SHELTERS WHO MAY ASSIST FAMILIES WITH ANIMALS
Those in need of shelter who may not want to separate from their animals may check with the following shelters for help. Many shelters support the SAF-T program (SHELTERING ANIMALS & FAMILIES TOGETHER). They are a global initiative helping domestic violence shelters create on-site pet housing for families fleeing violence. These shelters are equipped to accept families of domestic violence along with their pets. There is no guarantee that a shelter can help but we try to give you as many resources as there are available. Due to Covid -19, some shelters may not still participate with the program. Please check with each individual shelter to see if they participate and what kinds of pets are accepted. You may also need to check shelter availability. Some shelters may also take out-of-state residents if they feel they can assist.
If you cannot locate a shelter from this list below, please check with A Safe Place for Pets as an alternative resource.
